EcoCeres and Suzhou Establish "Green Closed-Loop" SAF Feedstock System Pioneering Urban Waste Oil Upcycling Model

EcoCeres has successfully shipped the first batch of fully-traceable waste oil - collected and transported from Suzhou Industrial Park - to its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, China.

Jiangsu, China – 15 January, 2026 – EcoCeres Inc., a leading pure-play renewable fuels producer, has successfully shipped the first batch of fully-traceable waste oil - collected and transported from Suzhou Industrial Park - to its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, China. This milestone marks the official launch of the “Suzhou Restaurant Waste-to-Energy City”, a closed supply chain jointly established by EcoCeres and the Suzhou Municipal Government. The initiative positions Suzhou as a pioneer in full-traceable, closed-loop city waste oil management – from source collection to end production – transforming waste kitchen oil into SAF, underscoring the city’s leadership in waste-to-resource innovation and low‑carbon energy transition.

This landmark delivery is the first concrete outcome of the high-level discussions held between EcoCeres and the Suzhou Municipal Government in November 2025. Moving beyond previous fragmented efforts, the collaboration has enabled a dedicated, closed-loop feedstock system that has supported continuous operations at the Zhangjiagang SAF plant since December 2025.

The system transforms city waste oil from the Suzhou Industrial Park area from a city municipal liability into a valuable, low‑carbon feedstock. Supported by a systematic reliable network for collection and transportation, the waste oil is delivered directly to EcoCeres for advanced processing - completing a “waste oil–biofuel–green aviation” value chain in Suzhou. This forward-looking model offers a replicable blueprint for urban waste valorization and provides cities with a practical pathway to convert waste into sustainable energy.

A key competitive advantage of the system is its end‑to‑end transparency and traceability. Leveraging EcoCeres’ self‑developed ecTrace digital platform, every batch of feedstock is tracked from its catering source through logistics to SAF production. This “traceable source, trackable destination” approach ensures authenticity and regulatory compliance while creating a scalable digital template for the industry. It supports Suzhou’s ambition to become a “green kitchen energy benchmark city” and delivers a robust solution for closed-loop waste oil management.

Guided by the Suzhou Municipal Government, EcoCeres is advancing a phased development roadmap: first establishing a comprehensive waste oil traceability framework, then scaling through circular economy pilots, and finally driving wider market adoption via green certificate mechanisms. This approach will enable city‑wide closed-loop management, digital supervision, and the production of low‑carbon aviation fuel, further consolidating Suzhou’s status as a “green kitchen energy benchmark city.” The impact is set to extend across East China, enhancing regional supply of sustainable energy and bio‑jet fuel. In the near future, flights from Shanghai, Hangzhou and neighboring cities could be powered by green energy “made in Suzhou,” laying the groundwork for a “zero‑waste city” and charting a path toward a “low‑carbon sky.”
