Building a Sustainable Business for a Sustainable World
Carbon Neutrality
Climate change is the defining challenge of our time and requires a concerted worldwide effort to address the issue. In keeping with community efforts to combat global climate change, governments around the world have established goals to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Worldwide Effort to Address Climate Change
The transportation sector, including land transport and aviation, is one of the areas where decarbonisation is most needed. Both the EU and the US have set targets for reducing the carbon footprint of the transportation sector as a key area of focus in their pursuit of carbon neutrality.
- The EU’s Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III) aims to have a binding target of 14.5% reduction of greenhouse gas intensity in transport from the use of renewables, or a binding share of at least 29% of renewables within the final consumption of energy in the transport sector by 2030. The provisional agreement sets a binding combined sub-target of 5.5% for advanced biofuels and renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs) in the share of renewable energies supplied to the transport sector by 2030.
- The US plans to supply sufficient Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to meet 100% of aviation fuel demand by 2050, while airlines accelerate their adoption of SAF.
Contributing to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
Through developing and supplying renewable fuels and other sustainable products, EcoCeres is joining the global effort by delivering the decarbonisation solutions much needed by the world to attain carbon neutrality. In particular, we are prioritising six United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) to which we are making the greatest contribution.
